the Threepiece quartet is a band formed by friends to make the kind of music that is limited only by their imaginations. The main mode is that of rock band, but when they play jazz, they swing it.  When they play Latin they point it.  When they play blues it gets dirty, and when they trance, you can't help but dance.  The funk sounds like Herbie meets the meters, and the jams are phish meets mmw.  They mix Cajun with pop, and classic rock with country.  the grass is getting bluer and the quirky is getting weirder.  The reggae is up and hard rock is down.  Covers are opened up and originals sound like flipping stations.  It could all dive to a soup of dissonance or crescend to a feel good chorus.  You can sit back and dig the peculiar tightness, or be carried away by the infectious sound of the Threepiece Quartet.

The Threepiece quartet occupies the space where the freedom and adventure of Jazz meets the energy and textures of Rock’s rich and lively history.  Through this they create an engaging musical environment that can be energizing, hypnotic, relaxing, and even eerie at times. They’ve been enthusiastically described as having “evolving music and matchless musicianship! (Peggy Mitchell, WFSS Public Radio ’04)”

Peter McArthur (guitar, vocals), Sean Rooney (bass), and Josh Walters (drums, vocals) originally met in high school, in Fayetteville, NC where they were all born. They spent most of their time writing weird rock songs with weird rock sounds on oddly catchy amateur albums. After college, under the heavy influence of famous three-piece rock bands like the Jimi Hendrix Experience, MMW, Tool and Primus, they decided to polish up their act and become a band dedicated to the Live Show. They hope to grow with the addition of a talented keyboardist, but until they find their player, they will be taking their brand of improvisational Threepiece rock’ n roll wherever they can.

Some notable Threepiece Quartet performances include Fayetteville NC’s  Dogwood Festival which attracts tens of thousands in the spring of each year.

Threepiece also does a 60’s, 70’s & 80’s rock n’ roll cover show with singer/guitarist David Brown. As the David Brown Cover Band, They have played at various sporting events at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, nc, and the RBC center in Raleigh, nc, as well as many clubs throughout southeastern nc.
